Pat Tillman
Pat Tillman, like every other Veteran who answers the call of duty, is a hero. After the September 11 attacks on America, Pat Tillman turned down a $3,600,000 contract with the Arizona Cardinals to enlist in the Army. His brother Kevin, joined him, leaving behind a minor league baseball contract with the Cleveland Indians. Together they completed Basic and the Elite Ranger School, and were assigned to the 75th Ranger Regiment: 2nd Battalion, Fort Lewis, Washington.

Tillman did this quietly and without having the spotlight attached to him. In fact, he never publicly made a spectacle of his decision. Regrettably, In April 2004, Tillman was killed in the line of duty while serving overseas hunting those responsible for the attacks on America.

Tillman’s # 40 was retired on 19 SEP 04 during half-time by the Arizona Cardinals. During the ceremony, the entire crowd was on its feet, and not a dry eye could be found anywhere.

The Pat Tillman foundation was created in honor of Pat Tillman (See below), and the Arizona Cardinals are naming the open area in the new stadium, scheduled to be open in 2006, the Pat Tillman Freedom Plaza. The Army posthumously promoted Tillman from Specialist to Corporal and also awarded him the Silver Star and Purple Heart.

The Pat Tillman Foundation was created in memory of Pat Tillman and to support others who want to make the world a more positive place to live in. Please visit their website at: http://www.pattillmanfoundation.org
